Struggling to conceive? Don't wait in silence

Infertility is a medical condition, not a curse or anyone's fault. When to see a doctor, why husband and wife should be checked together, and where to get help in Mardan.

In many of our villages, a married woman hears the same question again and again: "Any good news?" At home, at weddings and at family gatherings. When the answer stays no, the questions turn into taunts, and the blame almost always lands on her.

Many women carry this alone for years. Some spend their savings on taweez and tonics. Some are left out of celebrations. Some live with the fear that their husband will marry again.

Infertility is a medical condition, not anyone's fault

Here is what we want you to know: infertility is a medical condition. It is not a curse, and it is not the woman's fault. In around one in three couples, the cause lies with the man, and in many others both partners are affected. That is why husband and wife should be checked together.

What waiting too long can cost

  • Years of stress, sadness and strain on the marriage
  • Treatable problems such as thyroid disease, PCOS, blocked tubes or a low sperm count going unnoticed
  • Lower chances of success, because fertility falls with age, especially after 35
  • Money wasted on remedies that do not work

Many causes are simple to find and treat, and the earlier you look, the better your chances.

When to see a doctor about infertility

  • You have been trying for a baby for 12 months without success
  • The woman is 35 or older and you have been trying for 6 months
  • Periods are irregular or have stopped
  • Either of you has a known medical problem

A word to families

Please be kind. Stop the questions and the comparisons. A couple who feels supported is far more likely to seek help in time.
